Alonsa School's Grades 3/4 Class Cooking Quest
In March the Grades 3/4 students travelled to Winnipeg to the Super Chef Academy. The Super Chef Academy is a place where students are taught healthy eating by getting them into the kitchen and involved in their own fun, age-appropriate cooking projects. The opportunity to participate in this program was awarded to only 18 schools in Manitoba. We owe Mrs. Gurke, our Community Connector, a big thank you for applying for what is sure to be a fun and educational experience for our students!
On April 24th the Grades 3/4 class participated in a Cooking Quest with three schools remotely via video conference and FaceTime. Two classes from schools in Winnipeg were at the Sunova Centre in Winnipeg, where we went to the Super Chef Academy, and our students in Alonsa did research to help them solve the quests to complete the recipes they were given. The students enjoyed this FaceTime classroom experience that was sponsored by the Dairy Producers of Manitoba and our Community Connector, Mrs. Gurke, arranged for our participation. Our Grades 3/4 Class also participated in our own Food Quest and made couscous salad as a class. I am excited to report that all of the students tried the salad and many came back for seconds!
